About The Event
Join us for the launch of 'A Place to Land', third book and poetry debut by Tineke Van der Eecken, published by Mulla Mulla Press.
'A collection infused with love and grief -- a collection in which romance and myth merge to create lush landscapes. Â A collection full of elegance, of vigour, or a passion for words and how we carry them.' Â
Scott-Patrick Mitchell
'Van der Eecken conjures with words. Her poetry is a raft - both frail and sturdy - that can cross the treacherous but fertile oceans of nature and culture.'
Liana Joy Christensen
'As this poetry soars over the many continents of Van der Eecken's life, it repeatedly reveals places to land. It is fascinating terrain. Although they manifest the panoptic gaze of a visionary scanning past and future, these poems delight in the discipline of forensic and personal detail.'
Annamaria Weldon
Tineke Van der Eecken has Flemish-Australian multilingual heritage. Much-travelled, she writes about experiences in places damaged by colonial history. She has won the Karen W Treanor Poetry Award, and her poems have appeared in many journals and anthologies, including Grieve 9 (Hunter Writers Centre), The Lake, the other side of hope and Tamba. Her memoir Traverse (sequel to Café d’Afrique) was shortlisted for the TAG Hungerford Award.
